Patricia Wangen (maiden name Astalos) is the youngest of the four children of Steve and Caroline, or as she put it recently, she is “the oldest living matriarch of the Astalos-Piehl clan.” She turned 70 this year (2008)!
To celebrate, there were three layers of festivities: family birthday party at Steve and Tara’s with all children, children-in-law, and grandchildren present, kayaking on Lake Union with Steve, and a trip to Victoria, B.C. on a high speed boat with Beth. (We spent about seven hours at Butchart Gardens, one of Grandma Caroline’s beloved spots.)
Hi Family from Seattle area,
Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008 – We are nearly snowed-in today. There are abandoned cars all over the roads where I live and all over the Seattle area. Lots of hills here where 4-wheel drive is needed to keep on going. Radio reports say exit ramps are jammed with cars and trucks, so don’t even think about going that way. I’ve swept my walk and steps four times already and it is still snowing. Quite a lovely day actually, if you don’t have to go anyplace and you are not the one who is stuck. A white Christmas does not always come to us here in the Pacific Northwest. Now if only the delivery trucks can make it to my door to bring my Christmas shopping. Are you all cold and snowy too?
